This General Chemistry lecture introduces the subject of electrochemistry by showing how to assign formal oxidation states to atoms in molecules. Reactions that involve changes in these formal oxidation states are called redox reactions, and they are prevalent in combustion. However, some systems allow us to physically separate the oxidation and reduction half-reactions and force the electrons to travel along a wire between electrodes, thereby allowing them to perform electrical work. This is the basis of the electrochemical or voltaic cell.

Hope you are pleasantly surprised. Anyway ... Vienna is a Song composed and written by Joseph King, Isaac Slade, and Daniel Battenhouse and performed by the band The Fray. This song was released in June 2006 in their first album in How to Save a Life. This is one of my favourite songs. Like much of The Fray's music, this song stands out from most rock music in that its harmonic progressions are deliberately and carefully crafted. The interplay between the guitar and piano creates some interesting textures, which I have tried to capture in this arrangement. Enjoy! Please rate and comment. Thanks. .
