LOUDER AUDIO ON VIDEO RESPONSE !! Check it out!! _____________________________________ TURN UP THE VOLUME - it's still coming out quite low [sigh]. This is a tutorial on how to colourise the black lineart of a manga image, usually done before you add base colour. Also sometimes termed as 'screening'. This vid is mostly speaking, although there are two speed CG clips - one of which very breifly covers shading. I said breifly. Blink and you'll miss it. Thanks for watching - if the vid is a help, please let me know. If it's not, please let me know WHY. Thanks again!

I USED A LAPTOP TOUCHPAD TO DRAW AND COLOUR THIS!!! Open up your lineart. (Yes, it was drawn by me, it's really sketchy tho. & BTW, the canvas size is BIG.) Make sure your lineart layer has a transparent background. Make a layer underneath it, and fill it with either, light pink, blue, purple or green. If it's white, the colours don't show up properly. Make a new layer for the skin. Dont forget your pallet! :) It does take time to get the right colours, even mine aren't perfect. Chose a large brush, and colour the skin area with the base colour. You don't have to be precise, we can fix this up later! Make a new layer on top of that, and group it with the previous one. Choose the next colour, and do your base shades. With a SOLID brush. Make another new layer & group, chosing the next shade, and do your darker shading. Repeat this step with the last shade. Right, now make another layer. Grouping as before, choose your second shade colour, putting flow on anything from 5 - 10 % I usually choose 7 or 8%. Now, add some more shading to that suckaaaaa'! this really takes practice. unfourtunatly im bad at it. xD. add minor details and such, and youre done! this is really just basic, and im not a pro, im not a great artist, and im bad at explaining things, to get stuff like this right takes practice! Ive only been using this method for a week or so :/ Now for the eyes. Which again, im terrible at. xD. Its basically the same principle as the skin, but you shade extra dark where ...

A tutorial and speedpainting video about my comic colouring technique. You need a reasonably good knowledge of Photoshop to follow what I'm doing. Otherwise it's just a fun watch. There *is* an audio crapout half-way through the video - it's not your computer. But I've already produced this video about ten times and I'm *not* doing it again! LOL! The missing quote by Bob Ross is "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents." I was talking about putting the wrong colour down. OH! And the audio is about ten seconds out of sync. What I'm describing happens before I say it. I don't know if that's me or YouTube. Who knows! I'll try to make sure it doesn't happen next time! Music from the computer game Interstate '76. ETA: People keep asking what brush preset I use in this tutorial. I basically use a 19 pixel round brush. But I have a Wacom Tablet, which means that I have the option to go into the brush presets in the brush palette and switch the opacity controls to pressure and the flow controls to pressure. (These options can be found under the "Brushes" tab in the top right hand corner of the Photoshop screen. Then go to "Other Dynamics" in the menu that pops down when you hit that tab.) If you don't have a Wacom Tablet (or any sort of drawing tablet) then you won't get the sensitivity I have in this tutorial. The closest thing I can recommend for mouse users is to bring the flow controls of your brush right down to about 5-10 percent, and use the brush like watercolours ...
